Dear readers,
This month’s poem(s) are a series of short and sweet haikus. October is so nostalgic. The leaves, the spices, the awkward costumes… ugh. I love it. This month is also the time we as a society nod to the dark side of life: death, ghosts, demons, spiders, witches, curses, gore, crime. Of course, these things exist all year round, but in October, it becomes socially acceptable to attend a party with a fake knife sticking out of your chest with fake blood dripping down your shirt. And you know what? I’m all for it.
There are also beautiful sights like this:

October
Found my warm sweaters
hidden in a dusty box
old and soft and mine
◇
Hanging fake cobwebs
on my porch, but first I sweep
away the real ones
◇
Darkness surrounds us
in all seasons: black alleys,
bright corporations
◇
I see children play
in a pile of crunchy leaves.
Do they know they're dead?
◇
In October, we
reveal our inner natures.
Me? I am a duck.
Thanks for being here! Hope you’ve had a happy October,
Love it! 🍁
