Illustrated Essay: How to Talk to someone in a Faith Crisis
Hint: you don't need to bear your testimony!
Happy Sunday, all!
Today’s illustrated essay is an adaptation of a post I wrote back in July on talking to someone who is going through a faith crisis. As I was revisiting this post, I found myself reflecting on past conversations I have had since I have been more open about my faith evolution/deconstruction/crisis/journey/mess. Questioning and doubting can be very disorienting and frightening, but it is the healthy conversations with friends and family that have helped me remember that I am a good person! and I am going to be okay! It is very healing to have people accept and love you for you.
All of the phrases suggested in this essay came from reader responses on what they wish someone would have said to them when discussing sensitive topics like a shift in beliefs. These conversations are so important to approach with love, honesty, and grace, for both the believing and doubting sides.
On another note, Something for Sundays is so close to having 200 subscribers — feel free to pass this publication along to someone you think would enjoy it! <3
Thanks for being here,
P.S. I now publish these illustrated essays to my Instagram, too! :) This way, they are easier to share.
